How to care for your vegetable tanned leather bridle

Our bridles are made of beautiful leather. Did you know that vegetably tanned leather has many valuable qualities that make it perfectly suitable for horse tack?

  • Eco-friendlier than chrome tanned leather, uses less water waste and chemicals.
  • Creates a very strong leather that will last for many years.
  • Creates a supple feeling leather.
  • Minimal maintenance required.

That’s right, vegetably tanned leather is by nature oily and requires minimal work to keep clean and soft. The oils in the leather prevent cracking or drying out. As we all use our horses in sandy arenas or muddy tracks when out on a trail ride it might need a clean every now and then.

EUR Equestrian recommends a bit of warm water and a gentle leather soap to clean your bridle. A leather conditioner may be used to keep your bridle in mint condition but don’t use it too often! Due to the quality of leather you can get away with a quick clean before competitions and a conditioner a few times a year.

How to care for your new breeches

Our breeches are made from a cotton/nylon/spandex mix, especially designed to create comfortable high-quality breeches that last. To keep your breeches in top condition here are a few tips!

DO’s:

  • Wash with similar colours.
  • Wash inside out to help keep the bright colours alive.

DON’Ts

  • Don’t use fabric softener. It reduces some of the amazing qualities of the fabric.
  • Avoid a tumble dryer and hang out to dry if you can.
